Gerard Butler's brush with death

Gerard Butler has shared footage of the moment he almost lost his life while filming the surfing drama Chasing Mavericks with Good Morning America.

The footage shows him paddling on his board about to catch a wave, before being wiped out. A huge wave can be seen crashing over his head, leaving him trapped beneath the water for almost a minute.

Gerard was caught in a "two-wave hold down", which is where one wave knocks the person too deep to get to the surface before another wave hits.

"Somebody described Mavericks the other day as liquid hell because the water is very dark and very heavy and there's just a lot of water there and it's a much deeper surf spot than most places so it takes you further down - you can go down 25 to 30 feet,"  Gerard told GMA.

"I was going to go back that day,' he revealed in an earlier interview. "I was actually in the ambulance and wanted to go back, which was a little crazy, but it's pretty addictive."

Gerard checked into the Betty Ford Centre in February for three weeks after becoming dependent to the painkillers he was given for the injuries he sustained.

Justin Timberlake's $6.5million wedding

 Christina misses her "exquisite breasts"

Christina Applegate has spoken about her 'total emotional collapse' after undergoing a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

In an interview with More magazine she reveals: "I miss my exquisite breasts sometimes", a reference to a line about her breasts in the movie Anchorman.

When she was diagnosed in August 2008, Christina recalls: "I was just shaking and then also immediately, I had to go into "take-care-of-business-mode" which included a change to a more healthy diet."

Melanie's Twitter bullies

Melanie Griffith has revealed she's been bullied by Twitter trolls: "Most people are telling me I look horrible," she told US Weekly. "The tweets I get are really nasty."

So what's the secret to Griffith's composure in the face of criticism? Modesty. And exercise.

"I don't know if I look that great," she told US Weekly. "[But] I work out a lot. I have a trainer that I [work with] four times a week, and I do hot yoga."
