Anne Hathaway tells the latest US Vogue that she initially dropped 10 pounds to play TB-afflicted prostitute Fantine in Les Miserables - and another 15 pounds during a two-week break from shooting - by eating just two thin squares of dried oatmeal paste per day.

"I had to be obsessive about it - the idea was to look near death," Hathaway reveals. "Looking back on the whole experience - and I don't judge it in any way - it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who Fantine is anyway."

(Makes me think Matthew McConaughey must be eating NOTHING to look like he does in these pics.)

In less disturbing news, she also said she plans to keep her shorter hairdo from the film.

“I love the short-haired lifestyle," she says. "I’m turning 30, and — I hope this isn’t obnoxious to say — I feel prettier, and much more myself. I guess I just feel much more satisfied with less now.”

Peaches Geldof pregnant again

Peaches Geldof, 23, who already has a seven-month-old son Astala (pictured above) – has announced that she is expecting another boy with rocker husband Thomas Cohen.

The Sun reports: "And she revealed she is planning to name the tot Phaedra.

"She said: “It’s a name that comes from an ancient Greek play but it also features in a song Tom and I both love called Some Velvet Morning by Lee Hazlewood.

“Finding out I was pregnant again so soon was quite a shock. Tom was so happy. He loves being a dad so much and is brilliant with Astala, who totally adores him, so he was over the moon.”

Voice of Elmo denies sex abuse claim

TMZ reports: "Kevin Clash -- the man known as the voice of Elmo -- has taken a leave of absence from Sesame Street in the wake of allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy, TMZ has learned ... allegations Clash adamantly denies.

"We've learned ... Sesame Workshop lawyers recently met with a 23-year-old man who claims he and Clash began a sexual relationship 7 years ago ... when he was 16 and Clash was 45.

"Clash has acknowledged to TMZ he had a relationship with the young man -- but insists it only took place AFTER the accuser was an adult ...
"The voice actor tells TMZ, "I had a relationship with [the accuser]. It was between two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not."

Justin Timberlake gets charitable for the cameras

Yesterday's pics - there were paparazzi ones as well as the Twitter shot, above - of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel helping out victims of Hurricane Sandy have provoked a spray from Lainey Gossip.

"Giving back is not bad. Of course not. Photo opping yourself giving back as a publicity stunt because you disrespected homeless people isn’t bad either. But ...could there be more? This, remember, is the same guy who recently broke up with Shriners because the foundation wasn’t happy with his lack of interest. In fact, Shriners actually called him out for “disappear”ing when the “cameras weren’t on”. Click herefor a refresher. How disappointing do you have to be for a charity to publicly scold you?

"The Timberlakes made $300K off their sh-tty wedding photos. That could pay for a lot of sleeping bags. Even more if he matched it. It’s not like Justin Timberlake would default on his mortgage he donated his wedding earnings. And I’m sure we could arrange to have it filmed."

PS The Shriner's background: Justin had his own PGA tournament in support of Shriners Hospital For Children.Tournament chairman Raoul Frevel was very specific about why they were not interested in continuing:

"Justin's a wonderful person. But we tried everything we could to get him more involved with our kids and the hospitals. But it seemed that when the TV cameras weren't on, he disappeared."
